UTM monitoring for Google Analytics 4

Bad UTMs break your reports quietly. We catch them within days.

Tracking Watchdog checks every campaign in your GA4 against your team's naming rules, every day, and tells you exactly what broke and how to fix it. No tags. No code. Read-only.

14 days free. No credit card. Set up in minutes.

An alert as it lands in your inbox or Slack.

One typo. Three rows in your report. And nobody notices for weeks.

Every campaign link is built by hand: by your team, your agency, the email tool, the freelancer who ran the influencer push. One capital letter, or one redirect that strips the tags, and GA4 quietly splits or loses that traffic. You find out at month-end, when the numbers don't add up and the budget is already spent.

  • Split reports

“facebook”, “Facebook” and “fb” show up as three sources. Your paid social numbers are off, and nobody knows by how much.

  • Lost campaigns

A redirect or link shortener strips the UTMs. The traffic lands as “(not set)” or Direct, and a working campaign looks like a flop.

  • Found too late

Most teams find tracking problems while building the monthly report. By then the data can't be fixed, and decisions were already made on it.

Set up in minutes. Watched every day.

  1. Connect GA4

Sign in with Google and pick your property. Access is read-only, and nothing is installed on your site.

  2. Lock in your rules

We read your existing campaigns and suggest naming rules for each channel. You confirm, adjust, done. No spreadsheet project.

  3. Get alerted

Every day we check new traffic against your rules. When something new breaks, you hear about it by email or Slack.

Everything you need to trust your campaign data.

  • Your rules, not a generic checklist.

Which sources and mediums are allowed, how campaigns are named, what's required: set per channel, because paid social and email don't play by the same rules. We check against exactly that.

  • Catches every link, whoever built it.

UTM builders only control the links made inside them. We check what actually arrived in GA4, including agency links, email tools and old QR codes.

  • Alerts only when something's new.

No daily flood of the same old issues. You hear about a problem once, when it first appears, plus a short weekly summary.

  • Fixes anyone can follow.

Every problem says what's wrong, how much traffic it affects and exactly what to change. Forward it to the agency and you're done.

  • Never a false all-clear.

If GA4 can't give us the full picture, we tell you. You'll never get a clean report that isn't.

  • Change rules with confidence.

See which campaigns a rule change would affect before you save it, and keep your past results exactly as they were.

And also

  • Email and Slack alerts
  • Weekly digest
  • Tracking health score and trend
  • Biggest problems first
  • A heads-up when campaigns show up in a channel you haven't set rules for
  • A reminder when your GA4 channels change
  • Unlimited team members
  • All your properties in one login
  • Ask AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT about your tracking

Built for the people who answer for the numbers.

  • Web analytics teams

You own GA4 and the naming convention. Stop policing UTMs by hand and auditing source/medium reports every month. Your rules get checked every day, on every link, from every team.

  • Performance marketing teams

You spend the budget, so attribution has to be right. Know within days when a campaign's tracking breaks, not after the money's gone.

  • Agencies and multi-brand teams

One login for every property, rules for each one, and alerts that reach the right people.

Keep your UTM builder. We catch what slips past it.

Builders are great at making good links. But they only control the links made inside them: not the one the agency pasted, the one the email tool generated, or the one from last year's print campaign. Tracking Watchdog checks what actually landed in GA4, so you finally know whether your naming rules are being followed.

Questions, answered.

Do I need to install anything on my website?

No. Tracking Watchdog connects to GA4 with read-only access. No tags, no scripts, no code.

Can Tracking Watchdog change my GA4 data or settings?

No. Our access is read-only, so we can't change anything in your property.

We don't have a written naming convention. Can we still use it?

Yes. We read the campaigns already in your GA4 and suggest rules for each channel. You confirm or adjust them in a few steps.

How quickly will I hear about a problem?

Within a couple of days, as soon as GA4 has finished counting the day. That's while the campaign is still running, not at month-end.

We already check our UTMs by hand. Why switch?

Manual checks happen when someone has time, usually after the report already looks wrong. We check every link, every day, so problems get fixed while they're small.

Will I get flooded with alerts?

No. You get one alert when a problem first appears. Problems you already know about stay quiet, and the weekly digest gives you the overview.

How is this different from a UTM builder?

Builders control the links made inside them. We check what actually arrived in GA4: every link, whoever built it. Many teams use both.

Where do alerts go?

By email, and on Team and Business plans also to Slack. And your rules cover every channel you run: paid social, email, affiliates, display and your own.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes. Manage many properties in one account, invite your whole team without seat limits, and give every property its own rules.

Where is my data stored?

In Europe. Our servers are in Germany and our email alerts are sent from within the EU. Our privacy policy has the details.
